Students explore apprenticeship opportunities at Transcover
On Wednesday 14th June, we welcomed four students from MidKent College to an open day to explore apprenticeship opportunities available at Transcover. This was organized by Ashley our Employee Welfare Manager, following a careers day she attended at the College campuses . A full day itinerary was arranged including a tour of our manufacturing facility, talks with department team leaders, question and answer sessions and of course a delicious lunch.
Whilst touring our site the students spoke to all of the department teams leaders who spoke about their roles and departments with such pride, passion and enthusiasm. Imparting knowledge and advice. The students all engaged with such eagerness and asked lots of questions.

One of these departments included Product Design, the manager Rick Oliver said:
“It was a really enjoyable experience to discuss my role at the business to such an engaged and invested group of individuals. They asked plenty of questions which evoked a wider conversation about product design, manufacturing and the whole workforce that bring it all together. I have worked at the business for 16 years so it’s easy to forget how important your role is and all the facets that make it challenging and enjoyable. I hope it was as valuable an experience for the students as it was for me and the team. The future of British engineering is looking extremely promising!”
We received feedback from the students, with one saying
“First and foremost, I would like to thank you for inviting my peers and I for a visit to Transcover Systems Limited. Today was very informative and opened my eyes to many possibilities available to me if I join Transcover. All the time I spent interacting with you and your colleagues at Transcover was truly inspiring and I learnt a lot. I had my heart set on a career in Engineering, but today further cemented why I chose Engineering as my path.”

Ashley said
“We couldn’t be prouder of our staff and the wonderful students and cannot wait for them to start their apprenticeship with us. The day was a huge success and I hope to hold more events like this in the future, welcoming and inspiring the next generation of talent”.
We hope the students enjoyed their day!
